As of April 1, 2017 RTL Nederland will stop offering news via teletext (RTL Text).
Only the pages 888 and 889 will remain accessible as a source for the subtitles for the hearing impaired.
Many functions of teletext have now been taken over by the broadcaster’s website and apps, social media and the Electronic Program Guide.
During the past years, the number of RTL Text users has declined steadily, with the result that the medium is no longer profitable enough to keep on air.
Consumers who will tune in to RTL Text after April 1, 2017, will be referred to other news sources.
