The Catalonian broadcaster CCMA, which includes Televisío de Catalunya (TV3) and Catalunya Ràdio, faces an additional VAT bill of €53.7 million for incorrect deductions in the period 2012-2014.
According to El Economista, a 20% charge will be added to this, bring the total to €74.7 million.
It adds that the news comes at a particularly sensitive time for CCMA, which wants to optimise costs after merging TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio into a single entity.
Although its turnover in 2015 amounted to €69.01 million, or 2.8% more than a year earlier, its debt stood at €10 million, with accumulated losses over a three-year period standing at €51 million.
However, it has seen its ad revenue fall, from €100 million in 2010 to €65 million last year, while TV3 has lost half its audience since 2001.
