CES 2017. OTT steraming service TVPlayer has signed an exclusive three-year deal with Frequency, a cloud-based internet video service that aggregates and distributes video from digital providers.
The deal will enable TVPlayer to offer a number of digital brands alongside the best broadcast brands and will introduce Frequency’s content to an UK audience.
Frequency will deliver a range of programming from digital brands, multi-channel networks and social influencers including Studio 71, Newsy, Jukin and Machinima.
The initial lineup will include at least ten linear channels and will be introduced in February to TVPlayer’s platform. More than 150 on demand channels will be integrated with TVPlayer in late March.
Since being founded in 2012, TVPlayer can now boast over 1 million active users in the UK and already offers over 100 broadcast channels on its platform, including 30 pay channels for £5.99 per month.
“Keen to establish TVPlayer as the launch platform for lean-back video experiences, we wanted to instigate a comprehensive digital-first programming strategy alongside our premium broadcast offering, and with Frequency, we’re able to do that with one deal and with one simple integration,” said Rob Hodgkinson, COO of TVPlayer.
Ian Aaron, President of Frequency, said: “TVPlayer’s unique OTT platform and rapid growth in the UK makes them an exciting and strategic partner for Frequency. Our expansive catalogue of top digital-first content, delivered in linear and on-demand formats, will enhance TVPlayer’s already compelling programming line-up.”
