Funbox UHD debuts in Qatar

January 9, 2017 22.55 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

SPI International/Filmbox Channels Group has launched Funbox UHD on Qatar’s Ooredoo tv.

Commenting on the development, Murat Muratoglu, SPI’s head of distribution for the Middle East, said: “We are glad to bring the Ultra HD channel to viewers in Qatar.

“It is important for us to expand our UHD distribution footprint into new markets such as Qatar following our recent launches in Romania, Portugal, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Turkey”.

Ooredoo tv is operated by the Qatari telco company Ooredoo, which provides mobile, fixed, broadband internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of consumers and businesses.

Funbox UHD, which Ooredoo claims to be the first Ultra HD channel in the region, is being made available to all Ooredoo tv subscribers.
