The Romanian regulator ANCOM has launched its fourth DTT multiplex tender.
It covers two national, 26 regional and 18 local multiplexes allocated in previous proceedings. Parties wishing to participate in the tender must purchase a specification that costs RON4,000 (€883).
To be eligible, they have to be a Romanian and foreign legal entity throughout the 10-year validity of licences, submit all the required documentation correctly and on time and – in the case of those interested in national multiplexes – have a minimum average turnover of €2 million over the last three years or since their establishment.
Several companies belonging to the same group are not allowed to participate in the tender.
Minimum tax payable on the national licences will be €300,000, while for the regional and local ones it will vary between €1,000 and €10,000. According to ANCOM, licence fees were established by the Romanian government in February 2014.
Licence winners will be allowed to launch services immediately. However, in the case of those holding national multiplex licences they will be required to operate 36 transmitters within two years of obtaining those licences, or one transmitter if they hold regional or local licences.
Applications are available until January 16 and must be submitted by January 27. ANCOM will notify candidates that have qualified on January 31 and announce the winners on February 13.
