The BBC has begun the rollout of Chromecast support for its BBC iPlayer kids app.
Kids have become a major focus of both pay-TV operators and public broadcasters alike with the BBC, Sky and Virgin all having their own dedicated app. There are also apps from Disney Junior and Nickelodeon.
Alice Webb, Director of BBC Childrens said: “We all know Christmas is a time when families come together to watch and enjoy some of their favourite BBC shows. We launched our award-winning BBC iPlayer Kids app earlier this year – and feedback has been great from kids and parents alike. Now, with Chromecast support, families can snuggle up on the sofa with their tablet or mobile – and enjoy festive specials from the Furchester Hotel, Justin’s House and Go Jetters, some rather Revolting Rhymes and the fun of CBeebies The Nutcracker all on the their telly.”
The BBC iPlayer Kids app was named one of the best apps of 2016 in Apple’s App and Google’s Play Store.
