The interactive TV show Rising Star has recorded the highest-ever voting participation and the most mobile phone app downloads for a new programme in Greece.
Broadcast on Antenna Group’s ANT1 channel for the first time, it secured over 1.4 million viewers, compared to 860,000 for the premiere of The Voice.
Commenting on Rising Star, Pete Smith, MD of Antenna Group, said: “The success of Rising Star shows that it pays off to invest into highly innovative concepts that engage the viewer at home across multiple platforms, including digital.
“Antenna Group is proud to have brought the show to Greece and we’ll work very hard to build on this promising debut and make the show a long-term hit.”
Rising Star registered more than 1.2 million votes during its first show in Greece. Up to now, almost 300,000 users have downloaded the application, which is available on platforms including Google Play and Apple’s App Store and compatible with portable devices, smartphones and tablets.
Last month Antenna Group partnered with Thrive Global, the newly launched corporate and consumer well-being and productivity platform, to bring the venture to Greece, Cyprus, Romania, former Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turkey and Russia.
This followed on from a partnership with Vice Media that has seen them work together to carve out a significant reach for Vice’s content across a range of media platforms in the region.
