ProSiebenSat.1 Austria launches free OTT TV/VOD apps

December 9, 2016 09.21 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Sat.1 ProSieben TV-Apps (ProSiebenSat.1)German media company ProSiebenSat.1 will offer new TV apps for its Austrian free-to-air channels from December 12, 2016.

With the ad-supported apps, the users will be able to watch the channels over-the-top (OTT) as live-streams and access video-on-demand (VOD) content on smartphones and tablets free of charge.

The apps will be available for Puls 4, Sat.1 Österreich, ProSieben Austria, kabel eins Austria, kabel eins Doku Austria, sixx Austria, Sat.1 Gold Austria and ProSieben Maxx.

“To bring Puls 4 and our other seven channels live and free of charge onto smartphones and tablets, is a unique step in Austria and we are happy that we can thereby further support our viewers’ mobile media usage,” Klaus Bitschi, director of ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4 Digital, said in Vienna.

The subscription-fee based app 7TV will be maintained as a multi-channel platform.

At the end of August 2016, ProSiebenSat.1 already launched free of charge apps with the live-streams of its TV channels in Germany.
