The Hungarian regulator NMHH has imposed net neutrality rules on the incumbent Magyar Telekom.
In doing so, it has become one of the first at an EU level to undertake such an action.
In a statement, the NMHH says that it has ordered the telco to ensure an interference-free internet service, terminating the offending traffic management measures it has used.
It adds that it examined the terms of Magyar Telekom’s TV GO and HBO GO services, and in particular the “unlimited TV and film” monthly fee option.
Having closed its investigation on November 21, it found that the provider of the content concerned unlawfully distinguished it over all other internet traffic and applications.
Furthermore, the content did not count towards subscription data traffic.
