YouTube is launching 4K live streaming for both 360-degree videos and standard videos.
The video platform is starting with the live streaming of the Game Awards, the entire show will be live streamed in 4K resolution. The awards show will start at 9pm EDT (3am GMT) on Thursday, December 1.
The video game show will feature a live performance of iconic hip-hop duo Run the Jewels as well as premieres of a number of video games, including Mass Effect: Andromeda and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Youtube said it will use up to 60 frames per second. This put them at an advantage over its competitors such as Facebook, where Live publishers can stream up to 720p at 30 fps, and Twitter via Periscope when using pro software Periscope Producer also allows for 720p at 30 fps.
The company also introduced support for HDR earlier this month.
