RT (Russia Today) is to receive an additional $19 million in state funding over the next two years.
Quoting Alexei Volin, Russia’s deputy communicatiosn minister, The Moscow Times says that the money will be used to help the channel with “a number of language tasks”.
RT currently provides services in English, Russian, Spanish, French and German, its output including three 24-hour channels in English, Arabic and Spanish.
It is available to 700 million people in over 100 countries worldwide.
RT will have access the new funds from the beginning of 2017.
