The Greek government has paved the way for the sale of a 5% stake in the incumbent OTE.
Ekathimerini reports, quoting the Government Gazette, that it has transferred the stake to the country’s privatisation agency TAPIPED.
It adds that the agency now needs to hire an advisor to proceed with the sale, the precise time of which is still unclear.
The Greek state owns 10% of OTE, with Deutsche Telekom holding a 40% stake.
The sale of half of the state’s shares in OTE is part of a wider privatisation programme agreed by Greece that aims to raise €14 billion by 2020.
