The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) has suspended the free reception of the Russian channel RTR Planeta for three months.
According to the regulator, its decision was taken on the basis of an investigation into a programme broadcast on October 16 and is due to persistent violations of the Audiovisual Media Service Directive and the Law on the Provision of Information to the Public of the Republic of Lithuania.
It adds that this was the third infringement by the same channel in less than a year.
Although RTR Planeta is registered in Sweden, its content is produced and disseminated by the Russian broadcaster VGTRK.
LRTK’s decision will come into force on November 21.
