Sony Pictures Television Networks will rebrand Sony Entertainment TV as Sony Channel in German-speaking Europe on December 15, 2016.
The pay-TV channel which will continue to mainly show European series will also increase its reach in Austria and become available in Switzerland for the first time.
“With Sony Channel, we will establish a brand in German-language Europe which already stands for high-quality television worldwide,” Carsten Fink, vice president German-speaking Europe at Sony Pictures Television Networks, said in Munich.
With the name change, the channel will also get a new design and a new website on which viewers will find programme information, trailers and reception details.
Sony Entertainment TV recently launched on Austrian DTH satellite platform HD Austria on Astra (19.2° East). It will be rolled out across Switzerland as part of Teleclub’s pay-TV package on January 1, 2017.
In Germany, Sony Entertainment TV can be received via cable and IPTV, for example at Vodafone, Unitymedia, Entertain TV, M7, Tele Columbus, Primacom and NetCologne.
