Romanian telcos plan to spend over €500 million next year on upgrading their fixed and mobile infrastructure.
Reporting on this year’s ZF Digital conference in Bucharest, ZF says that internet usage has become one of the main drivers for growth in the industry.
Liudmila Climoc, CEO Orange Romania, said that the company will have a budget at the same level as this year (€100 million) to expand on its network capacity.
Meanwhile, according to Miroslav Majoros, CEO of Telekom Romania, the incumbent plans to invest more in 2017 than the €180 million this year.
He added that it should reach 2 million homes via fibre this year.
Furthermore, starting in 2017 the company will offer banking facilities to its customers.
Robert Redeleanu, CEO of UPC Romania and Hungary, said that the cable operator had earmarked €50 million for investment next year and in subsequent years.
RCS&RDS, on the other hand, has allocated €200-210 million for this year and expects to spend a similar amount in 2017.
