The Polish national commercial broadcaster Polsat has ruled out the possibility of launching an Ultra HD channel.
Furthermore, reports Wirtualne Media, quoting Maciej Stec, a member of the board at Cyfrowy Polsat and Polsat, it does not plan to invest in Ultra HD technology.
Instead, it is currently focused on the launch of two channels (Super Polsat, to replace Polsat Sport News) and Polsat Docu, with several others in the pipeline.
Its strategy is in sharp contrast to that of the DTH platform nc+.
Besides preparing to introduce a decoder allowing for the reception of Ultra HD services, it is planning to launch its own channel in the format.
