Over 66% of subscribers to Russia’s leading pay-TV platform Tricolor TV now opt for HD services.
According to the company, the figure stands at over 8 million, having increased by almost 1.5 million since the start of this year. In total, some 21 million Russians are now estimated to watch HD channels offered by Tricolor TV.
Growth in Tricolor TV’s HD viewership has been assisted by a receiver exchange programme that was introduced in 2014 and has to date been used by over 3 million customers.
This has given them access to over 240 TV and radio stations, including 40 in HD.
Geographically, the Krasnodar region leads in terms of HD take-up, accounting for 9.43% of the total HD base.
It is followed by the Moscow and Rostov regions, with 8.34% and 4.5% respectively, while in the Chechen Republic 75.87% of Tricolor TV subscribers now opt for HD services.
