MTC adopts SERAPHIC HTML5 browser

November 11, 2016 11.22 Europe/London By Robert Briel

seraphic_mtcChinese Shenzhen MTC will adopt the Sraf HTML5 browser, provided by SERAPHIC, a TV browser and TV+internet solution provider, to launch affordable smart TVs in Europe.

SERAPHIC will offer its DTV solutions, such as certifiable YouTube TV 2017, TV portal and open browser, to MTC.

As the first Blink-based HTML5 TV browser (after Chrome embedded in Android TV), Sraf HTML5 browser is capable to support the latest HbbTV and YouTube TV certification specifications, as well as OTT content provider requirements in TV Stores. Besides, its TV specific open internet variant open browser is also provided.

“Since Sraf HTML5 browser is pre-integrated on MStar’s latest MSD6586 DTV chipset platform, our initial R&D efforts can be significantly reduced. This would enable us to launch quality smart TVs more rapidly, but with less cost,” commented Kenneth Zhao, product director at MTC.

In its homeland, MTC has cooperated with state-owned cultural company Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media, and Chinese home appliance manufacture Haier, trying to build up an ecosystem for internet TV. For the overseas market, MTC is seeking access to the European smart TV market, starting with cost-effective smart TVs launched together with SERAPHIC.

“SERAPHIC has long been our trustworthy partner. We firstly cooperated in 2014 to deploy TV Portal and Open Browser solutions on MTC smart TVs,” added Kenneth.

“Their expertise in global DTV industry and strong customer service secured the final success. The launch of smart TVs in Europe is a significant move for MTC. With the strengthened partnership with Seraphic, we look forward to maximizing MTC’s potential for further growth and market reach.”

Ye Wang, CEO of SERAPHIC, said, “We are pleased that MTC has selected our Sraf HTML5 browser and web-based smart TV solutions for their new line. That will bring real change that can genuinely transform and enhance the viewing experience at lower prices, which will certainly gain the favor of mass market.”
