Although Poland’s Cyfrowy Polsat saw a year-to-year reduction in customer numbers in Q3, its bundled offer smartDOM was very popular and posted record sales.
The company’s contracted customer total as of the end of September stood at 5,860,884, down 1.3% on a year earlier.
However, within that figure the pay-TV subscriber total was 4,679,114 (+6.4%), of whom 982,068 (+9%) opted for Multiroom.
Furthermore, SmartDOM had 1,233,768 customers at the end of September, or 37.2% more than a year earlier.
The Polsat group had revenues of €550.1 million in Q3, down from €556.4 million a year earlier. It net profit was down from €115.8 million to €62.2 million over the same period.
Meanwhile, Polsat is likely to launch its next thematic channel – Polsat Docu – sometime in 2017. However, speaking to Wirtualne Media, board member Maciej Stec was unable to provide a firm date as its debut will depend on the performance of the four new DTT channels currently being launched by other companies on the country’s eighth multiplex.
No decisions have either been made about the launch dates of other Polsat channels – Polsat Sport 2, Polsat Sport 3, Polsat Sport Film, Polsat Reality and Polsat X – for which the broadcaster has been awarded licences.
