Romania in the broadband fast lane

UPC RomaniaThe average download speed for fixed line internet services in Romania now stands at over 100Mbps.

According to the regulator ANCOM, quoting research by Netograf.ro, the figure was 97.7Mbps as of the end of Q3, or 30% higher than in the first two quarters. Meanwhile, the average download speed for mobile internet was 27.98Mbps as of the end of Q3.

In the fixed sector, UPC Romania was in top spot with 114.2Mbps. It was followed by RCS&RDS (111.64Mbps), Nextgen Communications (90Mbps), Telekom Romania (54Mbps) and Digital Cable Systems (42.58Mbps).

In the mobile sector, the highest download speeds were offered by Orange Romania (37.8Mbps), followed by Vodafone Romania (29.64Mbps), Telekom Romania Mobile Communications (19.79Mbps) and RCS&RDS (11.29Mbps).

Commenting on the findings, Eduard Lovin, executive regulatory director at ANCOM, said that indicated Romania would remain among the counties with the highest broadband speeds.
