Vivendi says the transformation plan at troubled pay-TV group Canal+ is underway with new contracts with Free and Orange.
It says the new distribution strategy enables Canal+ Group to considerably expand its subscriber base in France while increasing the exposure of the channels being distributed.
Revamped offers will be brought in on November 15, 2016. The Canal+ channel will become the gateway to all new Canal offers. Subscribers will be able to add themed packages to the Canal+ channel, including movies and series channels, sports channels and/or the Canal+ channels.
To date Vivendi has been unable to arrest the decline in subscriber numbers that saw a year-on-year decrease in numbers, even though its international channels business is performing strongly, particularly in Africa.
Canal+ Group revenues were €3,902 million, down 3.3% compared to the first nine months of 2015
EBITA from the Canal+ channels5 in France amounted to a €151 million loss, compared to €68 million for the first nine months of 2015.
