Alfa Group has entered into a partnership with VTB Group in order to jointly invest in Turkcell.
Kommersant reports that the move may help resolve the long-running dispute between Alfa Group and the Turkish holding company Çukurova over the ownership of Turkcell, which with over 60 million subscribers is Turkey’s leading mobile operator.
Turkcell is also an important player in the Turkish TV industry, with assets that include the platform Turkcell TV+.
As reported earlier in Broadband TV News, in August an arbitration tribunal in London dismissed claims against LetterOne (L1), Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman’s international investment company, by Turkey’s Çukurova and Ziraat.
