Key STB partnership emerges

November 1, 2016 10.32 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Intek Digital and SERAPHIC have entered into a partnership in order to target set-up box markets in such countries as Germany and Portugal.

Commenting on the development, Jack Kim, CTO of Intel Digital, said: “We are pleased to partner with SERAPHIC, whose strong R&D ability will help Intek Digital gain leverage in market penetration. Pre-integrated, lighting-fast, low memory required and stable, its Sraf HTML5 browser shows incomparable strength with strong and seamless support for our HbbTV-capable and pay-TV operator STBs.

“We also feel excited about Seraphic’s Web-based UI solution, which well matches our Web-based STB product planning strategy. I am pretty sure the cooperation will generate significant achievements for both of us”.

Ye Wang, CEO of SERAPHIC, added: “We are very proud that Intek Digital, a key player in the STB field, has selected our solutions. Our Sraf HTML5 browser has been ported and deployed on various digital TVs and STB chipsets, ready to go for nearly all global markets. It will significantly accelerate the device manufacturers’ time-to-market. For years, we have been providing high value-added, internet-related software and web-based solutions in Europe, South America, Latin America, etc. Korea-based STB manufacturers and middleware suppliers are characterised by technological innovations, quality-centered and proactive strategy, and we look forward to providing Korean customers with professional engineering support side-by-side in a very timely manner thanks to geographically adjacent access and same time zone”.

Intek Digital is a leading Korean set-top box manufacturer with a strong focus on DVB and IP-based solutions. Headquartered in Anyang, it also has sales offices in Brazil, Germany and Hungary. Meanwhile, SERAPHIC is based in Shanghai and a leading digital TV browser and TV + internet solution provider.
