UPC plans to expand its network in Romania to another 500,000 homes by 2018.
Quoted by ZF, UPC Romania and Hungary CEO Robert Redeleanu added that once this goal is achieved it would look into the possibility of launching mobile services.
Redeleanu said that this expansion would be repeating what has happened over the last two years, when UPC added 500,000 households in Romania by network expansion and small acquisitions.
By 2018, when it reaches a projected 3.2-3.3 million households, UPC will effectively cover half of Romania’s territory, making the launch of mobile services more realistic than to the one third it currently reaches.
Significantly, UPC made Horizon available nationally in Romania earlier this week.
Redeleanu said he was absolutely convinced there would be “massive adoption” of the platform in the next year to year and a half.
