UPC Polska has allocated PLN4 billion (€924.8 million) to invest in build and product development over the next five years, according to Frans-Willem de Kloet, the company’s CEO.
Speaking in a fireside chat at PIKE 2016, he added that it could also potentially lease networks as part of its expansion strategy. De Kloet also said that in terms of coverage – the operator currently reaches 20% of Polish homes, with this set to rise to 30% following the acquistion of Multimedia Polska – the hardest homes to reach are SDUs.
Asked specifically about Multimedia, he said that UPC Polska was happy with the deal “but conscious of the fact we’re not there yet”.
He also said he was of the view that there is room in the Polish market for new players.
De Kloet spoke highly of the Polish market, referring to it as dynamic and opportunity focused. He took over at UPC Polska on April 1, having previously been head of UPC in the Czech Republic.
