The Russian broadcaster NTV will officially launch three new thematic channels today (Monday, October 24).
Kommersant reports that the channels – NTV Pravo, NTV Styl and NTV Serial – will source the content from NTV’s library, which dates back nearly 20 years.
Furthermore, the latter channel will be distributed in cable operators’ premium packages and in the long term may offer previews of NTV series.
Meanwhile, NTV Pravo and NTV Styl will be offered in basic cable packages.
None of the three channels will carry advertising and revenues are expected to reach R75 million (€1.1 million) in their first year of operation.
Distribution will officially be the responsibility of the Gazprom Media company Red Media.
Significantly, NTV will be last major broadcaster in Russia to launch thematic channels.
