German media company ProSiebenSat.1 has commenced offering its Austrian news service 4News as a TV channel via cable and satellite.
The 24-hour service reaches TV screens through the internet, provided that the TV set is HbbTV-compliant and connected to the internet. On cable networks and on Astra (19.2° East), an HbbTV signalisation is transmitted which points TV sets to the data stream when 4News is selected in the channel list.
On October 27, 2016 4News will become available on Austrian DVB-T2 platform simpliTV.
The channel offers news from various genres. Viewers can choose between the categories with the arrow buttons on the remote control and directly select the video they are interested in or watch the videos as a rolling news service.
In summer 2016, 4News launched as an app (iOS/Android) for smartphones and tablets. The service is ad-supported and free of charge.
