Sky Q, the next generation receiver is being offered to new Sky customers as standard.
The 4K compatible Sky Q Silver, launched in February, is part of the latest Sky TV Bundles at a monthly subscription of between £20 and £38 per month. Premium channels command an additional fee. Installation costs vary; for example the 1TB box attracts a £15 fee while for the 2TB box this rises to £199.
Key is the Sky Q Multiscreen subscription – an additional £12 per month – which takes the upfront cost down to £60. By adding the Multiscreen subscription customers can also add on additional Sky Q receivers. The technology no longer requires an additional feed from the satellite as the Sky Q mini picks up both linear and on demand content through the main receiver.
The complete family of products, Sky Q, Sky Q Silver, Sky Q Mini, the Sky Q touch remote, the Sky Q Hub and the Sky Q app, all connect together – Sky initially used the term Fluid Viewing. The 12 tuner Sky Q Silver box gives customers the ability to record four shows while watching a fifth live.
Sky Broadband customers receive the new Sky Q Hub that turns Sky Q boxes into Wi-Fi hotspots improving coverage across the home.
