Austrian commercial broadcaster ATV will launch video-on-demand (VOD) platform ATV Smart on October 27, 2016.
Through the ad-supported service, viewers will be able to watch selected programmes from ATV and sister channel ATV2 free of charge in full length.
Access will be possible via smart TV sets, smartphones, tablets and computers.
To use the VOD service on the TV set, the device must be HbbTV-compliant and connected to the internet. ATV Smart will then be accessible through the red button on the remote control when watching ATV or ATV2.
Also new: ATV2 will be rolled out in HD quality on Austrian cable networks from now on. Via satellite and DTT, the channel will continue to broadcast in SD standard.
ATV has been offered in HD quality since July 2013.
