Toca Boca launches streaming video service for kids

October 10, 2016 08.31 Europe/London By Robert Briel

tocatvApp developer Toca Boca has launched its video streaming service for kids, Toca TV, in more than 150 countries.

This marks the company’s first move into kids’ video, aimed at children aged 5 to 9. The interactive video platform includes thousands of original and curated videos from around the web, with more being added weekly. Subscriptions cost $4.99 monthly after a first free month.

“With Toca TV, it’s not just about the videos that are available, but the ones that aren’t. Every piece of content is handpicked and prescreened using a carefully designed scorecard to ensure it lives up to Toca Boca’s standards and there is never third-party advertising, sponsored product placement or pre-roll,” according to the company.

“Toca Boca earned its spot as a top global kids’ brand by creating products uniquely from the kids’ perspective,” said J Milligan, head of Toca TV at Toca Boca.

“We’re applying that same approach to Toca TV to offer kids 5 to 9 and their families something that was truly made for them in a way nothing else is. With Toca TV we’ve created something uniquely for kids that is fun, playful and will inspire kids to play and create.”

Toca Boca worked with more than 75 independent creators and multi-channel networks including Broadband TV (BBTV), Dreamworks TV, the kids and family brand from AwesomenessTV, Studio71, and Freedom. Toca TV subscribers will also have access to exclusive kid-hosted shows and animated originals produced and directed by Toca Boca.
