MIPCOM 2016 will be showcasing VR with a series of Virtual Reality Panel Sessions, focusing on creativity, production and financing.
The VR Sessions will take place from October 17-19 in the Palais des Festivals, and are supported by Sony Corporation.
The Creativity Session will focus on how VR promises a new wave of inventiveness for storytellers, and will discuss its practical applications for dramas, documentaries, and light entertainment shows. The new creative alliance between TV drama and the gaming industry, to produce the most appealing and compelling content, will be also explored.
The Production Session will examine the VR content workflow, and show that Virtual Reality has much more to offer than just 360° videos.
Beyond the experiments of a few ground-breaking brands, more and more VR content is now being produced. The Financing Session will address the most pressing question of all: where is the money coming from? Who are the commissioners? What are the business models? This last track addresses the vital issue of financing the VR experience.
Speakers include James Milward (The Secret Location, executive producer of Halcyon, the VR series for SyFy), Nathan Brown (Discovery Communications, SVP, development and operations), Neil Graham (Sky, executive producer – Sky VR Studios/Sky Cinema), Amaury Laburthe and Arnaud Colinart (producers of Notes on Blindness), Hervé Fontaine (HTC, VP Virtual Reality B2B and business development), Kay Meseberg (Arte G.E.I.E., Head of VR/360), and Anthony Geffen (Atlantic Productions, CEO and executive producer).
