The number of FTTx subscriptions in Hungary should exceed half a million by the end of this year.
Data published by the regulator NMHH shows that the figure stood at 489,000 as of August, up from 482,000 a month earlier and 419,000 in the corresponding month in 2015.
At the same time, the number of broadband cable subscriptions also continues to grow, reaching 1,129,000 as of August, compared to 1,063,000 a year earlier.
However, the xDSL line remains relatively constant, down by only 1,000 over the year to 783,000 in August 2016.
Telekom remains the leading provider of fixed broadband services in Hungary, with a market share of 35.5% as of this August.
