BBC World News has won an Emmy award for its continuing coverage of the migrant crisis.
The award was presented at the 7th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York. The coverage featuring reporters Gavin Hewitt, Fergal Keane, Ian Pannell, Damian Grammaticas and Mark Lowen was seen on the nightly BBC World News America as well as the BBC’s domestic and international outlets.
Welcoming the award, James Harding, Director of BBC News & Current Affairs said: “The migrant crisis is one of the most significant news stories of our time and, with our global network of journalists, we are uniquely placed to cover it. I’m delighted our outstanding reporting and compelling storytelling, broadcast on BBC World News America, has been recognised with this prestigious award. To win the Peabody and Emmy in the same year is testament to the strength of our coverage.”
World News America with Katty Kay is broadcast from the BBC’s studios in Washington and also seen on PBS stations across the United States.
