SPI International’s FunBox 4K has been added to the channels being distributed in a DVB-T2 trial undertaken by the Czech national transmission company CRa.
The trial, which is the first of its kind in Central Europe using the HEVC codec, covers Prague and Central Bohemia and is also distributing the Czech public broadcaster’s thematic channel CT sport in 1080p, 1080i and 540p.
Commenting on the development, Marcel Procházka, director of regulation and strategy at CRa, said: “ the test shows that broadcasting 4k content in the DVB-T2 standard with HEVC codec will technically not be a problem in the future and the terrestrial platform is ready for it.
“There is not much (4k) product available, especially in Central Europe. We are therefore pleased that by cooperating with the company SPI International we can broadcast the channel FunBox 4K experimentally in DVB-T2”.
Berk Uziyel, CEO of SPI International, added: “We bring viewers of the channel FunBox 4K the best entertainment in the form of modern documentaries, artistic images, movies or adrenaline programmes. They are all in superior resolution with sharp detail, exceptional contrast and rich colours”.
