Setanta expands in Kazakhstan

Setanta SportsSetanta Sports has become the exclusive rights holder of the English Premier League (EPL) in Kazakhstan for the next three seasons, starting 2016/17.

Setanta Sports Kazakhstan, a dedicated EPL channel, made its debut in September 16 and will broadcast up to six live games a week.

Setanta Sports Kazakhstan will be the third Setanta Sports Channel in available in the market, joining Setanta Sports and Setanta Sports +, which offer La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.

The addition of the EPL to the Stanza offer means Setanta Sports provides coverage of the top five European football leagues, as well as the FA Cup and EFL Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, NHL, UFC, Formula 1, Top 14 rugby and boxing.

Commenting on the development, Dwyer McCaughley, CEO of Setanta Sports Eurasia, said: “Setanta Sports Kazakhstan offers fans of English football unrivalled access to the most competitive league in the world. The acquisition of the EPL rights in Kazakhstan makes Setanta Sports the number one player in the sports TV market in the region. The best players will feature for the best teams in the best leagues across Setanta Sports three channels every week during the season. Setanta Sports now has all the top European football leagues in its portfolio and we are excited to bring elite live football to our viewers in Kazakhstan.”
