Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Ministry of Communications and Transportation is preparing to publish an open international tender for the second phase of the country’s digitisation by the end of this year.
According to Klix and Sarajevo Times, the test phase of digitisation will begin at the end of this month. However, it remains to be seen if the DVB-T or DVB-T2 standards will be used.
During this test phase, programmes from the public broadcasters BHRT, FTV and RTRS will be broadcast in digital form where equipment has been installed. Afterwards, the first multiplex (A) will become operational.
According to Ismir Jusko, the country’s minister of communications and transportation: “At this moment, in the first phase of the digitalization project we are ready to release (the multiplex) for which we have obtained all necessary permits from the Regulatory Agency for Communications of BiH and that will happen in September 2016. Test phase of (the multiplex) includes the functioning of the installed equipment in the period of 90 days.
“If the test phase turns out to be successful, programmes of public broadcasters would officially be broadcast in digital form (in) the territory of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar”.
