The Bulgarian incumbent BTC, which operates under the brand name Vivacom, is under new ownership.
Quoting Capital, which cites three different sources, Novinite reports that the company now belongs to the entrepreneur Spas Rusev, with the deal having being completed on August 30.
It adds that earlier this year he offered €330 million for the company, whose assets also include the national transmission company NURTS.
Rusev in addition owns a newly established Luxembourg-based company named Viva Telecom and has also just bought the football club Levski Sofia.
Aside from the €330 million paid for BTC, he agreed to pay off the telco’s debts of €400 million.
The sale followed the non-payment of a €150 million loan that had been guaranteed by VTB Capital, the investment arm of Russia’s VTB bank.
