The Polish public broadcaster TVP’s president Jacek Kurski has revealed that it plans to launch a new sports channel.
Speaking to Business Insider Polska, he added that its existing sports channel – TVP Sport – would be made available to viewers free of charge via DTT.
TVP Sport, which was launched 10 years ago, has until now been an encrypted service offered only by cable and DTH platforms, with operators paying TVP for its distribution.
Kurski said that it would appear on the eight multiplex, in HD, in February 2017.
At the same time, operators will be able to distribute a new channel named either TVP Sport Max or TVP Sport Premium.
Kurski added that TVP could launch a second sports channel thanks to the growing amount of sports rights it now holds.
