Arte to show concerts and ballet in Ultra HD

August 19, 2016 09.27 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Pete Doherty von The Libertines (ARTE)European cultural channel Arte will expand its Ultra HD activities and show four concerts and a ballet in the new video format at the occasion of IFA Berlin on September 3 and 10, 2016.

The broadcasts will take place between 11.15 and 19.00 CET on showcase channel UHD1 by Astra/HD+ on Astra (19.2° East). For reception, DTH satellite households just need an Ultra HD/HEVC TV set; the signal is unencrypted.

Satellite operator Eutelsat will transmit the programmes on Hot Bird (13° East) on its showcase channel Hot Bird 4k1 and on Fransat Ultra HD on Eutelsat 5W (5° West).

IFA visitors can watch the broadcasts on September 3, 2016 on Arte’s stand in hall 2.2.

The first programme at 11.15 CET will be the ballet Le Corsaire from Manuel Legris from the Vienna State Opera (2016) followed at 13.20 CET by a concert by British band The Libertines with Pete Doherty from Paris Olympia (2016).

At the same venue, French music producer DJ Rone gave a performance (2015) shown from 14.45 CET. This will be followed at 16.20 CET by a concert by Irish folk band Villagers at the Festival Route du Rock 2016 and at 17.40 CET by a concert by French cellist Edgar Moreau with the Orchestre National du Capitol de Toulouse (2015).

In April 2016, Arte already transmitted an opera live via Astra and Eutelsat.
