Perform Group launches German OTT live sports portal DAZN

August 10, 2016 09.57 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

DAZN SceenshotUK-based media company Perform Group has launched its OTT live sports portal DAZN (“Da Zone”) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

For €9.99 per month, internet users can watch live games of the UK’s Premier League previously shown by pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland as well as Italian Serie A, French, Ligue 1 and Spanish La Liga. The matches are available on demand following the live transmission.

In addition to football, DAZN also shows games of the German Handball Bundesliga, tennis series ATP World Tour and WTA, US leagues NBA and NFL, the ice hockey Champions League (CHL) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).

Up to 20 live sports events can be shown at the same time. The transmissions are in Full HD quality with selected coverage in Ultra HD (4K) in future. The subscription can be cancelled monthly; the first month is free of charge.

DAZN Rights GermanyFrom the 2016 season, DAZN will screen the highlights of all games of the first and second-division German football Bundesliga – initially through a collaboration with current rights holder Axel Springer. From 2017/18, Perform Group will hold the rights itself.

“At DAZN, we put fans first and in control. German sports fans can choose to watch the sport they love whenever and wherever they like, with no long-term fixed contract and no advertising, for just €9.99,” said Simon Denyer, CEO of Perform Group.

For its German-language service, the company has built up a team of more than 100 editors, commentators and on air promoters at its production base in Ismaning near Munich in the past months.

The multiscreen service is available on TV screens through smart TV sets from LG, Samsung and Sony as well as via Amazon Fire TV and the Fire TV stick. For smartphones and tablets, iOS and Android apps are provided. Access is also possible on games consoles Sony PlayStation 3 and 4 as well as directly through the web via PC or laptop.
