Digital cable and IPTV are becoming increasingly popular in Hungary and accounted for 42.5% of all pay-TV subscribers as of this June.
Data published by the regulator NMHH shows that the number of TV subscriptions, based on the 10 major market players, stood at 3,273,421 in June.
Cable and IPTV accounted for 2,265,693 of the total, and of these 1,390,122 were digital.
Meanwhile, the number of DTH subscriptions was 901,488 and the pay-DTT platform MinDig TV Extra had 106,240 subscribers.
The total number of digital TV subscriptions was 2,397,850.
UPC remained the market leader in the pay-TV sector irrespective of technology, with a share of 26.8%.
It was followed by Telekom (25.3%) and Digi (25%), with Invitel in fourth place (4.7%).
