Ukraine’s National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting (Rada) has awarded a 10-year satellite licence to a new channel named Kvartal TV.
Produced by the national broadcaster 1+1 Media, Kvartal TV will be entertainment-based, offering viewers movies, series and the Show Studio Kvartal 95.
On air for 24 hours daily, it will be funded by subscription fees rather than advertising.
Kvartal TV will be available on cable from August 8.
It will also be distributed on IPTV and accessible on a number of devices.
The new channel will be distributed using the BISS satellite scrambling system, developed by the EBU and a number of manufacturers.
