David Gibbons has been appointed to the role of SVP international operations and technology for NBCUniversal International, effective September 30.
Based in London and reporting to Ian Trombley (president, operations & technical services) and Kevin MacLellan (chairman, NBCUniversal International), he will play an integral role in accelerating NBCUniversal’s digital growth agenda, in addition to assuming strategic leadership of the digital technology teams, broadcast operations, IT and operational service functions including security and facilities.
Commenting on the appointment, Trombley said: “David is a key appointment to our leadership team and his extensive experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build further on our technological and operational growth.”
MacLellan added, “David will be a strong contributor in augmenting NBCUniversal International’s digital leadership at a transitional time that presents many incredibly exciting opportunities”.
Gibbons joins NBCUniversal International from BBC Worldwide where he was most recently COO.
Prior to this, he served as director, global technology and operations at BBC Worldwide.
