Auto Play and an improvement to Top Picks are included in the first software update for Sky Q.
The next generation Sky box can now take the viewer from episode to episode of their favourite series (Auto Download Next Episode) – the comparison with Netflix is inevitable – though the feature is not their exclusive either. Auto Play will instantly start the next episode.
Sky Q is also bringing in additional Top Picks, a Sports homepage, and more recommendations including live and future broadcasts, suggesting that the Sky Q viewer likes scheduled TV after all. Viewers can now also use the Mini Guide (pictured) to record future scheduled episodes.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Brand Director of TV & Content Products, said: “Sky Q is the next generation of TV viewing and the new features are about making it even easier for customers to find and watch episode after episode of their favourite TV series, the latest live sport, or the best of the web. So whether you’re watching Ray Donovan, The Tunnel, or the start of the Premier League season, we know customers are going to love the new updates. These developments are just the start of the exciting plans we have for Sky Q this year.”
This first software release to Sky Q will also see a number of software updates, improving in-home connectivity and other bug fixes.
Sky+ customers aren’t entirely missing out. The broadcaster issued a separate update yesterday.
