The Czech government has approved the strategy that will see the country complete the transition to the DVB-T2 standard by February 1, 2021.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the auction of frequencies, currently used for TV broadcasting but in future allocated to mobile broadband, could fetch up to CZK4.6 billion (€170 million).
The transition to DVB-T2 will get under way this autumn and be accompanied by an information campaign.
While it will cost between CZK81 million and CZK1.05 billion, it should earn the state, excluding the proceeds of the frequency auction, between CZK109 million and CZK295 million.
