TalkTalk has lost both TV and broadband subs in the last quarter as the challenger telco continues to deal with the aftermath of last year’s customer data loss.
Broadband subs fell by 9,000 and TV by 23,000 on the quarter. The operator said it was maintaining its focus on driving engagement rather than base growth.
But mobile net adds were strong at 48,000 and Fibre net adds of 36,000
Dido Harding, CEO of TalkTalk, said the figures were in line with expectations: “We are very pleased with how the year has begun. Revenue growth was level year on year despite a smaller customer base and churn was down year on year as we drove growth in mobile and fibre, and delivered real improvements in our customers’ experience. As a result we are reiterating all of the financial guidance we gave in May, with revenue expected to show modest growth and EBITDA to reach £320m-£360m.
TalkTalk says it is making good progress with our fibre to the premise trial in York, where 11,000 homes have been passed and the operator has a penetration rate of 12%, just three and a half months after launch. It has a build cost of £500 per home.
