The Russian DTH platform operator Orion has reached a key agreement to rebroadcast its services in neighbouring Kazakhstan.
In a statement, it says that the purpose of the agreement is to comply with new legislation that came into effect on July 1 banning advertising in foreign, especially Russian, channels that are retransmitted in Kazakhstan.
As part of the agreement, it has replaced commercials in the six channels contained in its Signal Media International package with editorial content.
Orion regards Kazakhstan as a key market and was able to undertake all the preparatory work for the change in less than two weeks.
There was also no break in broadcasting the package.
