Dutch consumer authority ACM has asked for referral of the planned joint venture between Vodafone and LIberty Global’s Ziggo.
The Netherlands Authority for Consumer & Markets (ACM) has asked the European Commission to be allowed to handle the merger between cable company Ziggo and mobile phone operator Vodafone. To this end, ACM has filed a referral request with the European Commission.
The merger was notified to the European Commission because both companies involved have large turnovers. The European Commission will assess which is the most appropriate authority to conduct the investigation; the European Commission itself or ACM.
The European Commission has until early August to decide who will carry out the investigation.
