In Spain, 26.9% of all homes subscribed to pay-TV services at the end of 2015, up from 21.2% a year earlier.
Despite this growth, 70.8% of Spanish viewers are not interested in paying for more TV channels, as they are satisfied with the free-to-air offer on digital terrestrial, according to a report from telecoms authority CNMC. 30.1% cite the cost of subscribing as reason not to take premium channels.
34.6% claim do not watch a lot of television, while 7.5% find the offer of pay-TV not attractive enough; 8.2% said they download from or watch on the internet.
Meanwhile, more than one out of four TV homes now have a smart TV that is connected to the web.
