Orange has agreed to buy a 100% stake in Moldova’s leading cable operator Sun Communications for an undisclosed fee.
In a statement, Orange says that the acquisition will enable it to prepare the market for transformation towards convergence.
Its ambition is to reinforce its position as the leading convergent operator in Europe providing fixed broadband, fixed and mobile voice services. as well as pay-TV services.
Sun Communications provides digital and cable TV services under the SunTV brand to customers in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.
Its cable TV offer, consisting of over 172 channels, 25 of which are in HD, have over 100,000 subscribers.
The company’s offer also includes internet and VoIP. These have a connectivity of up to 300 Mbps and are received by over 38,000 customers.
The deal now awaits the approval of the competition authorities.
